USA Equestrian Membership Surpasses Record

USA Equestrian membership numbered 82,706 on October 21, exceeding the total of 2001 membership and breaking the previous record set in 2001. The total membership for 2001 was 80,760, up from 77,441 in 2000 and 74,156 in 1999.

USETís History-Making World Equestrian Games Performance To Be Shown on Outdoor Life Network

The history-making performance of the United States Equestrian Team (USET) at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, will be shown on television in early December. U.S. riders, drivers and vaulters won a total of eight medals, doubling the U.S.ís best previous performance.

US Show Jumping Riders Off to a Good Start in the European Indoor Circuit

Five riders representing the United States participated at the first European indoor show of the season at CSI-A Bremen (GER), October 3 - 6. Clare Bronfman fared the best on Lord William (Lord Caletto - Rocky, by Rousseau), her Westphalian gelding, placing second in the Der Joker competition and second in another class aboard her Selle Francais gelding,
Enchante (Kessel II). In the team trophy class the US team finished 3rd behind Holland and Germany.

A special session of the League of Agricultural and Equine Centers will be held during USA Equestrian's 86th Annual Meeting and 7th Sports Summit to be held January 15-19, 2003 at the Marriott Griffin Gate in Lexington, Kentucky. Spain's WEG Team Bronze Medal Dressage Rider Rafael Soto To Give First Clinic in the USA

Rafael Soto, rider at The World Equestrian Games and Director of riders at the Royal School of Equestrian Art in Jerez, Spain will be coming to the United States for the first time to give a special symposium. Soto will lead a symposium for all levels of horses from training through Grand Prix.

FEI Delegation Meets with the IOC

On 23 October 2002, an FEI delegation met with the IOC President Jacques Rogge and the IOC Sports Director Gilbert Felli and two members of the sports department to present FEIís counterproposal to respond to the Olympic Programme Commissionís recommendation to exclude Eventing from the Olympic programme.

Valerie Kanavy Wins USET Endurance 100-Mile Championship

Two-time World Endurance Champion Valerie Kanavy, who has previously won the USET Endurance 50-Mile and 75-Mile Championships, won the first USET Endurance 100-Mile Championship held October 19 at the Fair Hill Natural Resources Area in Fair Hill, MD.

David OíConnor Takes Eventing Lead On First Day at Fair Hill International

Sydney Olympic Gold Medalist David OíConnor of The Plains, VA holds the lead half-way through the dressage phase of the U.S. Equestrian Team (USET) Fall Eventing Championship at the Fair Hill International.
