Lateral and longitudinal suppleness are essential in developing throughness. Shoulder-fore, transitions and half halts can be helpful teaching tools. The exercise of spiraling in and out works on suppleness using these tools.

FEI Delays Implementation of New Prohibited Substances List until 5 April 2010

The FEI has announced today (1 December) that the FEI Bureau has passed a Resolution delaying implementation of the new Equine Prohibited Substances List and the accompanying Equine Anti-Doping and Controlled Medication Regulations until 5 April 2010. This Resolution has been passed in order to allow for broader debate and consultation on the policy change approved at the recent FEI General Assembly regarding the restricted use of a small number of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).


Changes to 2010 WEG Dressage Judging Panel

Linda Zang of the United States will replace Anne Gribbons as president of the ground jury at the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. This will be the third WEG she will have judged.

Olympic Grand Prix horse Hiscox Askari Passes Away

Olympic Grand Prix horse Hiscox Askari passed away on Thursday December 9, 2009. The 22-year old bay gelding suffered from a severe colic attack and even though he was operated on he could not be saved. Hiscox Askari, a 1987 born Dutch warmblood gelding by Avignon out of Wasuska (by Darling Boy xx), was Richard Davison's number on Grand Prix horse between 1995 and 2001.


Anne Gribbons to Serve as USEF Dressage Technical Advisor

The USEF announced today that Anne Gribbons has entered into a contract with the USEF to serve as the USEF Dressage Technical Advisor though 2012. The Technical Advisor role will include the coordination of all aspects of the USEF Dressage High-Performance Coaching Program. Gribbons will oversee the training and preparation of U.S. riders and horses as they prepare for World Championship, Pan American Games and Olympic competition.


Amy Jager to Represent Canada at 2009 FEI Young Rider Dressage World Cup Final

Amy Jager of Puslinch, ON, will represent Canada at the fifth annual 2009 FEI Young Rider World Cup Finals, which will be held at the CDI-W Frankfurt in Germany on December 17-20, 2009.
