Jump Canada Initializes Competition Venue Development Fund

Source :  Jump Canada

Jump Canada has initiated a $20,000 pilot project for the 2003 competition year called the Competition Venue Development Fund.

"We are excited about this new program and believe that it fits with our mandate to address the quality of all aspects of the Horse Show Environment in Canada," remarked the Chair of Jump Canada, Mark Samuel.

The concept is one in which the fund will reimburse show organizers, or geographic groups of competitions that re-invest in their competition facilities to enhance the showing experience and conditions for competitors and their horses. Jump Canada intends to subsidize the projects by partnering with provincial organizations and competition organizers.

"Competitions are important elements in the equation, and the cost of organizing a horse show are very high," noted the Chair of the Jump Canada Competitions Committee, Craig Collins. "Jump Canada wanted to proactively provide a method of support for encouraging and assisting organizers in developing great horse shows."

Horse show organizers are invited to submit requests for project funding they feel will enhance the quality, safety, and level of competition at their venues. Emphasis will be placed on competitions that wish to grow their events, and the resulting changes must have lasting benefits that will enhance the competition in future years. The changes must directly benefit all competitors. The Competition Venue Development Fund will reimburse only for funds expended by the recipients.
