Bromont Equestrian Park Up for Sale?

The Bromont Equestrian Park, home of the equestrian events for the 1976 Olympics and "almost" home for the 2018 World Equestrian Games, could be up for sale soon. At least that is what Quebec news outlet "La Press" is reporting.

The sprawling equestrian facility, situated just outside of Montreal in the picturesque countryside, could be sold under judicial supervision in April if SACS does not repay its debts close to $ 1.2 million to the Caisse Desjardins de Granby-Haute-Yamaska.

SACS, the "Société d’Agriculture du Comté de Shefford", is the non-profit organization responsible for the preservation of the Park, as proprietor of a portion of the land jointly with the City of Bromont.

In their coverage, La Press reports that on February 13, 2017, SACS was in default of payment of $47,552 on its monthly mortgage payments. This means they now have 60 days following the registration of the legal warning to refund the lump sum to its creditor, otherwise the latter can liquidate.

The article goes on to state that SACS' financial woes include an outstanding $61,994.46 debt to the engineering firm Avizo who registered legal paperwork in May 2016.

SACS President Marcel Bundock has stated that many of the unpaid invoices are directly related to the 2018 World Equestrian Games, which were initially awarded to Bromont but then were withdrawn by the FEI  in 2016 due to lack of funding. Bundock further stated his confidence that all those owed money will be paid.
