2004 Canadian Dressage Olympic Final Selection Trials Move to Blainville, Quebec

After an exciting weekend of competition at York Equestrian Centre June 18th – 20th, Olympic focus will now shift to Blainville, Quebec where the second and final selection trial is slated for June 30th – July 3rd.

Ashley Holzer & ImperiosoCindy Ishoy, who has participated in three Olympic Games and one Alternate Games, is sitting at the top of the leader board after winning the Grand Prix at the first Olympic Trial with a score of 69.292%. With all Olympic contenders having taken a short break following Trials # 1 in order to rest their mounts, excitement will start to build as all five riders prepare for the final Grand Prix competition scheduled for Thursday July 1st.

The final selection will be tabulated as follows: 

  • The average of Grand Prix scores received in order to qualify for the first selection trial: 33%
  • Grand Prix score from Trial # 1 (York Equestrian Centre): 33%
  • Grand Prix score from Trial # 2 (Blainville Equestrian Park) : 34%

Upon completion of the final selection trials in Blainville, Quebec, Dressage Canada’s High Performance Committee will announce the results of the team selection standings in descending order of the final score totals.

Leslie Reid, having already been named to the Olympic dressage team after earning an automatic bye earlier this year on Deryol Andrews’ Mark, will be present at Blainville Equestrian Park for the naming of the team.

Watch for television coverage on Global July 31st at 3:00pm and RDS July 25 at 1:00pm.

Dressage joins Eventing as one of only two equestrian disciplines where Canada has earned a team Olympic berth. Jumping will be sending one individual. Keep tuned to www.DressageCanada.org as the Athens Olympic countdown continues.
