Celebrate the Chinese Year of the Horse at the Royal

Take part in the Year of the Horse Celebration, a co-production between the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair and the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto, on Tuesday, November 12, at the Royal.

In the Coliseum at 8pm, as part of the scheduled Horse Show performance, there will be a special audio presentation celebrating the Year of the Horse and recognizing the significant role the horse has played throughout the history of China. Immediately following will be a very colourful, high-energy traditional Chinese dance presentation.

Just outside the Coliseum, the Chinese Cultural Centre will host a booth from November 10-12 featuring examples of Chinese art, writing, handicrafts and horticulture. You can also learn more about the Year of the Horse from knowledgeable Chinese Cultural Centre representatives who will be on hand to answer questions.

In addition to the excitement in the main Coliseum ring, just outside of the Tanbark Club, will be a special exhibit of Chinese equestrian art, created by renowned artist Tok Lok and his talented son YiTong Lok. This exhibit will run from November 10 – 12th.

Celebrate the 80th Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, the world's largest indoor combined agricultural, Horticultural, canine and equestrian event, for 10-days of country sights and sounds from November 8 to 17, 2002, National Trade Centre, Exhibition Place. A Canadian tradition since 1922, the Royal is a showcase of the very best in agriculture, horticulture and equestrian sport and a rare opportunity for urbanites to experience a taste of rural life.
