Michael McKenzie was born in Epsom England and began his career with horses as an apprentice jockey at the age of eleven.  Four years later, he took his first professional ride. Due to increased weight at age seventeen, Michael became a steeplechase jockey for 2 years before serving with the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery.

After his service, Michael resumed riding in England and France until an injury in 1969 forced him to retire. This is when he started his journey into the saddlery business.

Michael travelled extensively, including Australia and Africa, until he was brought to Canada in 1973 in order to manage a well-known Thoroughbred farm.

In 1975, Michael started his Saddlery business full-time in Richmond Hill and now supplies quality custom leatherwork to such noteable riders as:

  • Gina Smith
  • Shannon Oldham-Dueck
  • Nancy MacLachlan
  • Gillian Sutherland
